Swinging Sixties and Seventies......

Any guess as to what i'm, talking about....Yes...I'm talking about the melodious, soul-stirring Hindi songs of the Sixties and the Seventies.....nothing as contagious one. Every tune stirred sleeping emotions, be it a smile, a tearful eye and sometimes an action...a jig or a yell........Yahoooo. We danced and cried to the rhythimic beats and soulful melodies....... or mourned a tearful song. All of them were in tune with our daily lives....


The era has faded into the realms of time....but the lilting music and captivating lyrics still lives on.... I did wonder if the younger generation would even get to hear of it....but thanks to the otherwise dreaded technology, which has made our lives miserable in more than one way....there are videoes, and cds and pen drives and what nots. And the interest they have....I just have to hum an Aan milo sajana......for my neighbor to continue with Aaaan miloooo. And the contagious eena, meena, deeka, dai dam deeka, or an aaja, a a ajaa, a a a aaja....or a Jai, jai shiv shankar...
There is one for every mood, time, occassion, age...you name it. For sickness, and happiness and good times and happy times....

I'm sure that all of you would agree that it is the same with other Indian languages too. I could write pages of Kannada, Malayalam and a few Tamil songs.

And I'm sure you have noticed that nothing brings peace to the older generation as much as a trail of old, melodious numbers.
I bow in respect and veneration to the lyricists, music directors, singers who have given us theese evergreen numbers.
